The French composer and pianist Christine Ott is a welcome and frequent guest at Fluister. Her previous Fluister concerts at Het Paard and TivoliVredenburg were sold out. Ott became especially well-known through her collaborations with Yann Tiersen, Radiohead, and Tindersticks. She has also performed with various classical orchestras. In recent years, she has increasingly stepped into the spotlight herself, with her latest achievements being the beautiful solo albums Only the Silence Remains and Chimeres.
Christine Ott has specialized in the Ondes Martenot, a remarkable instrument designed by Maurice Martenot in 1918 that combines piano with electronically generated tones. An old musical instrument that produces mysterious and captivating waves. Ott’s music is therefore just as wondrous as the instrument used to create it. It is partly Satie, but due to the ominous electronic sounds also partly an eerie soundtrack.
